Avoid before reduce,
reduce before recycle,
recycle before dispose
Waste is omnipresent. If we consider
only plastic waste as a example, the
facts are staggering. If current trends
continue, our oceans could contain
more plastic than fish by 2050.* The
amount of one truckload with plastics
ends up in our oceans every minute.**
This poses a huge danger for our flora
and fauna and marks the beginning
of the end for our planet - our living
space. We believe that waste management begins in a small way.
ISO 14001 Environmental
management
The environmental norm ISO 14001
sets a wide range of waste management and environmental protection
goals.

As we are audited anually according
to this norm, we reach the set goals
and carry out many actions towards
waste reduction in our daily worklife.
This already begins by replacing plastic cups with compostable cups or
removing plastic bags from the office
bins. There is a need to question
deployed materials constantly.
Efficient packaging and
material use makes the
difference
Developing packing methods and
deploying as little material as possible
is part of our strategy to reduce
packaging material. Furthermore, we
aim to use only recyclable packaging
materials made of renewable raw
matrials such as:

Cardboard
Wood
Foil
Further, we fully recycle our operational waste like card boxes, wood,
plastics, metal, glass.
In addition, pressed card boxes,
plastics and crushed wood waste take
less space when transported from our
factories to nearby recycling stations,
and thus decrease CO2 emissions.
In general, a Viessmann cold room has
a high share of recycling - 100%.
